Aftermarket exhausts for the S1000RR

Must have! We did it going up from the dam - did it Saturday and Sunday - Sunday on the GS (need to get first service done Tuesday). Didn't see the pothole at all so I must have missed it or it must be on the other side?

With the Akrapovic slip on, does it backfire or crackle on the rundown? Does the fuelling need to be remapped or is there a setting in the ECU that alters it?

No backfire/crackle that I have noticed. Am sorry that you mentioned because my Adventure does that with the Akro and I quite like it and now that you have reminded me I miss it on the RR!

Not sure if fuelling was remapped - dealer fitted the exhaust when I did the first service.

I like the look of the Akra, so what if there’s a gap.
There is another post on here letting us know that another company is offering a correct lower cowling. I agree that BMW should have through t more about this. But then again they are the ones that never seem to get an exhaust to look even mediocre at best.

Has anyone seen a KTM RC8 like aftermarket exhaust for the S1000RR? Barely visible and completely fitted underneath the bike. This would truly make the bike look even better. Maybe there isn't one (yet)? And if so, is it linked with the butterfly valve?
Interested to hear more about this.

By the way, although I like the motorsport colors very much, the bike looks a class apart in thunder grey metallic! I was truly impressed the first time I say it in real life in this color.

They will be producing a Taylor Made exhaust for the BMW 1000RR, due in March 2010. Looks pretty sweet too me, but I am not that familiar with this exhaust company. What is the story with them, any experiences good or bad?

Good find! I heard one on a honda next to an Akro on an S1000rr and it was deeper sounding.

This is going on my bike later this week. Its not a full exhaust, cat is cut off and some new pipe work made. Cat can be put back on at a later date.

Agreed, that is very nice. I like the undertray that hides the CAT. Do you know what it is made of it says 'material FT' on the website.

If I were buying, I would buy either of these (both full Ti and both more power than the Akras/Arrows et al). Lots of work done here. The quality of the workmanship being equivalent on each.

The Kyle exhaust is available in long and short versions like the Akra. The Brock pipe makes 6hp over the long Akra, both mapped (the Akra using the DJ PC map mp012) and tuned whilst the Kyle makes an additional 3hp but is stouter in the higher mid to top using custom maps for each. The Akra could thus be sqeezed for 1 or 2 more on the Brock comparison as it looked a little rich to me.
